Souvenir Pennant from the Gettysburg Wax Museum, 1960s

$35.00

Product Description

This is a nice nostalgic piece being offered, it is a pennant from the Gettysburg Wax Museum, circa mid-1960s. It measures 22” x 8” and is not faded, still having bright colors.

The Civil War Wax Museum has been a staple in the Gettysburg Community for nearly 50 years. The doors to the Wax Museum were opened in April 1962, the 100th anniversary of the Civil War. Throughout the years, the museum and gift shop have grown and developed into one of the largest, and most notable destinations in Gettysburg. In my book "Battle of Gettysburg - The Relics, Artifacts & Souvenirs", I discuss these types of souvenirs.

In March of 2014, the museum was auctioning off the contents of the museum. Now under new ownership, it is called the Gettysburg Heritage Center. They refocused its storyline to that of the town before, during and after the battle. They re-developed the space, updating it and making it relevant to all visitors. I have been to the Wax Museum many times over the years and wish that they left it as it was.
