This is another great piece being offered, it is a Revolutionary War era inkwell. It is made of wood and has a 2” diameter and stands 2 1/4” high. Inside is a glass bottle and has a cork on top. There are similar examples in the “Collectors Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution” (see pictures).
This inkwell is very solid but there are some hairline cracks, typical of its use and age. The inkwell would go great alongside a period document or letter. A nice early piece that seldom shows up.
