Revolutionary War soldier’s horn drinking cup

$165.00

Product Description

This is another rare piece out of the large Revolutionary War collection I am currently working on. It is a horn drinking cup which has a curved piece to put on a belt. It measures 8” x 3” x 2 ¼”. Actually, they served two purposes, one for drinking or getting water, the other was for carrying a whetstone.  The whetstone was important to a soldier for sharpening his knife, axe, or tomahawk.

It is in remarkable condition with only a tiny chip on the rim. There are no cracks and the horn hanger is tightly in place. The coloring is great, and it would actually still hold water. This would have been used by a French & Indian War or Revolutionary War soldier. It would make a very nice addition to a soldiers personal effects – next to an axe or knife, or even a canteen.
