Revolutionary War Shoe Buckle, dug at Williamsburg, Virginia

Being offered is a Revolutionary War brass shoe buckle measuring 2” x 2 ¾”.  It was recovered with several other items at a Revolutionary War site off a side road near Williamsburg, Virginia.

There are examples of these buckles in “Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution”, by Neumann and Kravic. It remains in good condition with the typical signs associated with dug artifacts. It comes in the glass top display case pictured.

With the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding this year, interest in the Revolutionary War and its relics is expected to significantly increase. This renewed enthusiasm will drive demand for virtually all Revolutionary War artifacts, further contributing to their scarcity and rising prices

These items were as precious to the individual as their weapon, serving practical needs and providing comfort amidst the hardships of war.
