This is another interesting piece being offered, it is a leather Revolutionary War Shot Bag. It is made of leather and has the brass measure adjustment – the overall measurement is 6” x 3” wide. These bags were worn on the powder horn strap of the light infantryman, both American and British.
An example of a similar shot bag is in the Revolutionary War Museum in Yorktown, VA (see pictures). Also, they are in the “Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution”. The leather on this bag is a little worn, but pliable – the brass spout is in nice condition, but I didn’t try opening or closing it.
