Being offered from a Revolutionary War collection is a late 18th century copper tea kettle, circa 1790 – 1820. It has a flat swing handle, gooseneck spout, separate lid, and zippered dovetail construction on the bottom. There are examples of this kettle in “Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution, by Neumann & Kravic (see pictures).
It is unsigned, which was typical of the era. These kettles were popular in many households, as well as in military camps. There is a very similar example in the Colonial Williamsburg Museum (see pictures). It has the original dark uncleaned patina. I show one picture with the kettle on top of an 18th century hand-forged camp trivet. This is not included but will be available for $175.00. This would make a nice addition to any early collection.
