This is another nice early piece being offered, it is a Revolutionary War Iron Bullet Mold. It measures about 5 inches in overall length. This would be used to form a lead ball of about .42 caliber. A small supply of fixed ammunition during the Revolutionary War forced soldiers to make their own ammunition.
In “Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution”, there are similar bullet molds featured (see pictures). This bullet mold is in very nice condition and easily opens and closes. It would make a nice companion piece with a period musket or powder horn.
