RARE - Revolutionary War British Button, 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards (ON HOLD,MW)

Out of Stock

$245.00

Product Description

Being offered is a rare Revolutionary War British button. It measures 18mm and on the front within a sunburst design is “3 G”. The small wire shank is missing from the back. It was recovered years ago along the Hudson River in New York.

The 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards, part of the elite British Brigade of Guards, was deployed to America in 1776, playing a key role in major campaigns throughout the Revolutionary War. Known for their distinctive white lace grouped in threes, they saw action from the New York campaign to the final surrender at Yorktown.

This select group of guardsmen raised specifically for the American conflict was chosen from the three guards’ regiments:  First Foot Guards, Coldstream Guards, and the Third Foot Guards.  Originally the three guard regiments were each separate entities.  Not until 1707, with the unification of the United Kingdom, were the three regiments formed as the Royal Regiments of Foot Guards.

As you can see in the pictures, this button is in legible and in very nice condition. It comes in the glass top display case pictured.

With the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding this year, interest in the Revolutionary War and its relics is expected to significantly increase. This renewed enthusiasm will drive demand for virtually all Revolutionary War artifacts, further contributing to their scarcity and rising prices.

Already, I am witnessing a notable uptick in purchases of these items, which reflects the growing anticipation for the anniversary and the heightened value of Revolutionary War memorabilia.
