Original Harper’s Weekly Newspaper, dated Oct. 21, 1865 – Dr. Mudd and Captain Wirz (SOLD)

This is another interesting piece being offered, it is an original Harper’s Weekly newspaper, dated “NEW YORK, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21,1865”. The cover on this issue has an illustration of Dr. Mudd (alleged Lincoln assassination conspirator), hiding in the “Hold of the Steamer “Thomas A Scott”, along with the article.

Also on the cover is an illustration of the “Trial of Captain Wirz”, the Andersonville Prison Warden. The paper is loaded with articles and advertisements and is complete and in decent condition.
