Grouping of Revolutionary War relics, recovered at Williamsburg, Virginia

Being offered is a Revolutionary War brass buckle 2 ½” x 1 ½”,  a pewter button with shank, and a large 27mm brass button. These three pieces were recovered close to each other at a Revolutionary War site off a side road near Williamsburg, Virginia.

There are examples of these relics in “Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution”, by Neumann and Kravic. All three pieces are in good condition with the typical signs associated with dug artifacts. They come in the glass top display case pictured.

With the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding this year, interest in the Revolutionary War and its relics is expected to significantly increase. This renewed enthusiasm will drive demand for virtually all Revolutionary War artifacts, further contributing to their scarcity and rising prices.

Simple objects like forks, spoons, buttons, cups, dishes, pots, and knives played an essential role in a soldier’s daily life. These items were as precious to the individual as their weapon, serving practical needs and providing comfort amidst the hardships of war.
