Product Description

This is another interesting item being offered, it is a 4 ½” x 5 ½” display case of a Minie ball, round ball, and buckshot. A very old period tag states, “At the time of the Civil War” and below it “Minnie balls Mother Ellis used to make in factory as a girl to use in War when she lived in Mass”.

She worked at the Springfield Armory in Springfield Massachusetts. The armory manufactured ammunition from 1777 all the way until 1968. It was both the first federal armory and one of the first American factories dedicated to the manufacture of ammunition.
