Civil War small zinc pistol powder flask (SOLD)

This is another nice item being offered, it is a zinc Powder Flask. It measures 4 ¼” x 2 ¼” and has what appears to be a mythical winged dragon design on the body. These flasks were used to carry black powder and the charge would be poured out of the brass spout. Although not actually considered a military item, there have been instances where they were used by Confederate soldiers, and they are often recovered from Civil War sites.

This flask is in good condition, no holes or rust. The brass spout appears complete, but it is tight and would need some oiling if desired. There is an example of this flask in the NPS Gettysburg Museum (see pictures). These flasks are always a nice addition alongside a revolver.
