Civil War Bridle Rosette, recovered at the Battle of Bentonville, NC

$45.00

Product Description

This is another nice item being offered, it is a Civil War bridle rosette, as worn on horses. It is brass and has a 1 ¾” diameter. The back has the remains of the attachment hook which has rusted off. It was recovered along Devil’s Racetrack Road, Bentonville, North Carolina.

The Battle of Bentonville was fought on March 19-21, 1865, and was the last full-scale action of the Civil War in which a Confederate army was able to mount a tactical offensive. This major battle, the largest ever fought in North Carolina, was the only significant attempt to defeat the large Union army of General William T. Sherman during its march through the Carolinas in the spring of 1865.
