Civil War .69 caliber bullet recovered from the “Slaughter Pen”, Gettysburg

$65.00

Product Description

A while back I was able to acquire an old Gettysburg collection – mostly bullets and artillery shell fragments. Being offered here is a .69 caliber musket ball (probably Confederate). It was found by a battlefield guide many years ago at the “Slaughter Pen”, Gettysburg.

The "Slaughter Pen" at Gettysburg refers to a specific area of the battlefield, primarily around Devil's Den and Little Round Top, known for intense fighting and high casualties during the Civil War. It was a swampy, open area where soldiers from both sides were caught in intense crossfire. The name reflects the horrific nature of the fighting and the large number of casualties.

I discuss this area and these bullets in my book “Battle of Gettysburg – The Relics, Artifacts & Souvenirs” (see pictures). The ball comes in the glass top display case pictured. The original Certificate of Authenticity will be included. This is a great original relic from one of the deadliest areas of the battlefield.
