Civil War Soldier's Brass Stencil, 29th NYVI (SOLD)

$0.00

Product Description

This is another nice item being offered, it is a brass stencil marked “A. Hartmann”, who is identified as Private Abbott Hartmann, measuring 2 ¾” x 1 ¼”. Thirty-six year old Hartmann enlisted in New York City on June 4, 1861. He mustered into Company D, of the 29th New York Infantry. I have similar soldier’s stencils in my recent book “The Civil War Soldier – His Personal Items” (see pictures).

Hartmann was listed as wounded on August 30, 1862 at the 2nd Battle of Bull Run. He mustered out on June 20, 1863. This unique piece was part of a large Civil War collection which I recently acquired. It comes in the glass top display case pictured along with the Historical Data System record. (SOLD)
