Very Rare! Gorgeous Confederate 2-piece Belt Plate, Murfreesboro (SOLD)

Out of Stock

Product Description

This is an absolutely gorgeous 2-piece CS Belt plate. It is considered to be the “Virginia Style”, made with a plain serif and enlarged wreath. (Reference: Mullinax Expanded Edition, plate 007). It was recovered years ago at the Battle of Murfreesboro.

The Battle of Murfreesboro (Stones River) was fought from December 31, 1862, to January 2, 1863, in Middle Tennessee, as the culmination of the Stones River Campaign in the Western Theater. Of the major battles of the war, Murfreesboro had the highest percentage of casualties on both sides.

This buckle was purchased on June 27, 2000 from probably the most respected Civil War dealer and expert on Confederate artifacts, Harry Ridgeway. This rare artifact is free of any bends or cracks and has a great smooth green, chocolate patina. It is not a “marriage” – the two pieces were produced and dug together. I would consider this the nicest 2-piece I came across in the past 30 years. The original signed certificate/invoice will be included, stating that it is 100% guaranteed.
