REVOLUTIONARY WAR BLACK GLASS WINE BOTTLE, CIRCA 1765 – 1790

$135.00

Product Description

This is another nice piece being offered, it is a Revolutionary War black glass wine bottle, circa 1765 – 1790. It measures 9 ½” high with a diameter of 3 ¾”. These bottles are called black glass, but actually they are a dark olive green which appears black, it was from the Fredericksburg, Virginia area.

In “Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution”, there are examples of this bottle (see pictures). There are also examples in the Revolutionary War Museum in Yorktown, VA (see pictures). I have another one of these bottles on the website which was dug at a Revolutionary War site in South Carolina.

Overall, this bottle remains in very nice condition, only a tiny hairline crack about one inch, which I never even noticed until taking pictures. This is a very nice original Revolutionary War bottle over 250 years old, a great example for display.
