Part of soldier's brogan, found at Nashville Hospital site

Product Description

This is another interesting item being offered, it is the leather sole from a Civil War soldier’s brogan [shoe]. Years ago, a trash pit from a Civil War hospital in Nashville, Tennessee was discovered offering up a cache of the remains of soldier’s shoes and boots – the number of shoes pulled out of there was incredible.

As stated in the description card, these shoes would be intentionally torn apart so they could not be of any use if ever discovered by the Confederate Army. Most of the footwear were from soldiers who fought in the battles of Nashville and Franklin. It comes in a glass top display case 16” x 12” that is matted showing the shoe and description card. This is a very interesting and well-known find.
