Original Confederate One-Dollar Bill from Richmond, dated Dec. 2nd, 1862

Product Description

This is another nice piece being offered, it is a One-Dollar Confederate note (T-55), hand-signed and numbered. It has a picture of Clement C. Clay in the center and is dated “Dec. 2nd, 1862”. This note was printed with black ink on pink paper. There is no design on the back.

During the Civil War, the Confederates States of America printed their own paper money between 1861 and 1864. A general rule of thumb is that the earlier currency issues are worth more than later issues.

The bill appears to have been circulated throughout the war but is still complete. It would make a nice addition to any Civil War collection.
