This is another unique piece being offered, it is a Civil War Cavalry Bugle Cord. It is the yellow worsted wool cord with tassels. The color yellow indicates Cavalry. The exact cord is on a Draper Brothers, Boston bugle. They had contracts with the U.S. government for 400 bugles on July 3, 1861 (see pictures).
The cord is not a surplus piece, but one that has definitely been through the war – pretty close to relic condition. However, it is complete and in one piece. It could be displayed by itself, or even on a period bugle. It comes in the glass top display case pictured – this is a rare piece.
