Product Description

Small book titled "Poems of John G. Saxe". On the title page is “Boston: / Ticknor and Fields. / 1864”. On the next page is “Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1861, by John G. Saxe, in the Clerk’s Office of the District Court of the District of Massachusetts”. This small pocket book has 308 pages and measures 5 ¾” x 3 ¾” x 1”. It belonged to Private Franklin Westbrook, 27th Michigan Infantry, who was wounded at the Battle of Spotsylvania. This is one of five which came from the estate of Westbrook. The first, which is sold, had his name and unit. This one has in period pencil "Frank from Pa - Jan'y 1st 1865". This book is complete and tight and remains in very nice condition, only showing signs of normal use.
