This is another nice item being offered, it is an early 20th century Stereocard on Gettysburg. It is the typical size of 7” x 3 ½” and was by the Keystone View Company. The view is titled “From Little Round Top, Looking Across Wheat Field, Gettysburg, Pa.”
It is a very interesting image, having what probably is a Civil War veteran seated on a rock with his hat next to him as he stares out over the battlefield. Across the road (no longer there) is the monument of the 155th Pennsylvania Infantry. This monument was dedicated on September 17th, 1886 at a total cost, for the base and the statue, of $3000.
The back of the card gives a little history about the battle of Gettysburg and the fighting which took place in this image on July 2nd, 1863. This rare card is in excellent condition – the aging veteran makes it a very moving image.
