Gettysburg Souvenir, Jennie Wade House creamer, imported for the Jennie Wade Museum

$65.00

Product Description

A while back I was able to acquire a lifetime collection of early Gettysburg souvenirs. I myself have always had a fondness for these pieces and have allocated a good portion of my book “Battle of Gettysburg – The Relics, Artifacts & Souvenirs” to their history (see pictures).

This one is a creamer measuring 3” x 3 ½” x 2 3//4”. It is gold trimmed and on one side is the house where Jennie Wade was killed. It says, “Jennie Wade House”. On the bottom is “Staffordshire / Imported for / Jennie Wade Museum / Gettysburg, PA”.

Mary Virginia Wade (May 21,1843 – July 3, 1863), also known as Jennie Wade was a resident of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania during the Battle of Gettysburg. At the age of 20, she was the only direct civilian casualty of the battle, when she was killed by a stray bullet on July 3, 1863. These souvenirs were very popular in Gettysburg from the 1940s – 1960s. It is in very nice condition.
