Confederate Brass Stirrup, as in the Gettysburg Museum

This is another great piece being offered, it is a heavy brass Confederate stirrup. It measures 5 ½” x 4 ¼” with the slot on top for the leather strap. The bottom of the stirrup is oblong w/ center hollowed out, from the side the stirrup tapers inward from base to top, no markings.

In the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum, they have an identical example of this stirrup in their collection, and it is on display at the museum (see pictures). That one came off a Confederate saddle found on the Rummel Farm at East Cavalry Field of the Gettysburg Battlefield. Originally, it came from the Carnegie Museum Collection.

This stirrup is in very nice condition and still has the original patina to the brass, never cleaned. It would make a great addition to a Confederate, Cavalry, or just about any Civil War collection.
