Civil War Relic Musket Sling Hook, .58 cal. bullet, 2 Union buttons – Gettysburg Hospital site

Product Description

This is a nice Gettysburg grouping which I recently acquired directly from the digger; it is a brass musket sling hook, a dropped .58 caliber Minie ball, and two Union Eagle buttons (no shanks, marked “Extra Quality”). They were recovered from a hospital site at the Gettysburg battlefield.

The location of the recovery was just off the Baltimore Pike, near the Quarry. This is the area behind Little Round Top, between Taneytown Road and Baltimore Pike (see map). This area had several Union Field Hospitals (see map with location).

These pieces are in nice condition, and all dug very close to each other, that is why I am keeping them together. Being the buttons are the same maker and same patina, they probably came off the same jacket. This is a great little grouping with 100% Gettysburg provenance. They come in the glass top display case pictured.
