Civil War Blob-top Soda/Mineral Water Bottle from Savannah, Georgia (SOLD)

This is another nice piece being offered, it is a Civil War "Blob Top" Soda/Mineral Water bottle. It measures 7 ¼" high and the diameter at the base is 2 1/2". It has a beautiful green color and in raised lettering is "Wm ANDREWS / PHILADa”. On the opposite side of the bottle is a large “A”. This bottle was recovered years ago at a Civil War campsite near Savannah, Georgia.

These types of bottles are often found in Civil War forts and camp sites. This bottle is also listed in “The Collector's Guide to Civil War Period Bottles and Jars”, by Mike Russell. The bottle shows the typical flaws of early glass making with the applied lip, air bubbles and stretch marks. This would be a great addition to any Civil War collection.
