Cased Box of Original Civil War Soldier’s Dominos, as in museums

Product Description

This is another great item being offered, it is a cased set of Civil War dominos, circa 1840's-1860's. They are in the original period sliding-top, dove tail box, which measures 6 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 2". Inside are 27 dominos with the period correct brass pins. Next to playing cards, dominos were the most popular game played by Civil War soldiers. Evidence of this can be seen in the finding of dominos left in camps and other Civil War sites. There is also a near identical example in The Gettysburg National Battlefield Museum and the Civil War Medical Museum (see pictures).

Also, in my book "The Civil War Soldier - His Personal Items", I have a similar set of dominos pictured and discuss in further detail the games that soldiers played (see pictures). This is a very nice and would go great in a display of soldier’s personal effects.
