Buttons recovered from the Gettysburg Battlefield (SOLD)

Out of Stock

Product Description

Offered here are three original Civil War buttons which were recovered from the Gettysburg Battlefield. These buttons are known as flat or coin buttons because of their similarities to a flat coin. They are made of brass, the larger one is 1" and the others are 5/8" and 7/8”. The backs of two of the buttons still have the shanks in place.

These buttons were more typical with Confederate soldiers, but both sides used them to some degree. But because of the scarcity of supplies, they were a common alternative for rebel soldiers. Similar buttons are on a coat which belonged to a Confederate soldier who was killed at Gettysburg (see pictures). In my book "Battle of Gettysburg – The Relics, Artifacts & Souvenirs", I have several of these flat buttons pictured, which were also recovered from the battlefield (see pictures). The book is also available on the website. Take advantage to add “true” Gettysburg relics to your collection. The glass top display case is included.
