.31 caliber brass pistol bullet mold, dug Virginia (SOLD)

Out of Stock

Product Description

This is another nice item being offered, it is a .31 cal. Pistol bullet mold, measuring 4 14”. It is made of solid brass and would make two balls. It was recovered many years ago at Spout Spring, Virginia, Appomattox county. This town was a stop on the Southside Railroad in the mid-nineteenth century. It was part of the late Chester Wayne Miller collection of Boonsboro, Maryland.

Miller was a Civil War collector for over 60 years. Being a quiet and reserved man, no one really knew the extent of his collection. He was very passionate about collecting, and rarely sold anything he bought.

He had ancestors living in the Sharpsburg area during the Civil War, as well as ancestors serving in the Civil War. He grew up hearing the stories that had been passed down over the years, which instilled in him a love for history and Civil War collectibles. Miller could tell you the history of every item in his collection, where he acquired it, and the history behind it, even 30 to 40 years after he purchased an item.

Being brass, this piece remains in very nice condition, and could be cleaned up if desired. Miller’s paper tag still remains with the bullet mold.
