Very nice large copper cup (SOLD)

Out of Stock

Product Description

This is another neat piece being offered which was part of a large Civil War collection I acquired; it is a large copper cup. It is 6” high and the diameter at the base is 5”; the handle extends another two inches.

It is unmarked and has all of the characteristics of copperware from the early to mid-19th century. There is a flat bottom, rolled lip and all of the seams are soldered. It also has the heavy wire attachment on top of the handle, which was typical of Civil War issued tin cups. If you were ever looking for a piece with a lot of character, this is definitely a great example. The cup has a beautiful untouched patina, a tight handle and just signs of normal use. These early copper cups are rarely found and would make a great addition to just about any collection.
