$325.00

Product Description

This is another historic piece being offered, it is an excavated Civil War Union U.S. Belt Plate. The brass face has a very clear “US” and the back has the early “puppy paw” studs and the hook is also present. It has the museum inventory number “168”. It was originally part of the Rosensteel collection before going to the Gettysburg National Park Museum.

The Rosensteel Collection is arguably the most famous collection of Gettysburg relics that have ever existed. John Rosensteel opened his Round Top Museum of Gettysburg artifacts in 1888. The collection, which grew in size as a variety of local collections were added. This became the nucleus of the Electric Map Museum collection and ultimately the Gettysburg National Park Museum and Visitor Center collection.

This beautiful Gettysburg artifact was acquired right after it was deacessed from the museum and acquired by The Horse Soldier of Gettysburg. The original tags and a signed Certificate of Authenticity will be included (see pictures). It comes in the glass top display case pictured.
