This is an original New York Times, dated January 29, 1862. The front page headline is on General Burnside's Expedition in North Carolina. It goes on about the difficulties being encountered and the loss of several ships. There is an article on the loss of Colonel Allen and Surgeon Weller of the 9th New Jersey Infantry - both drowned.
There are also articles on the different military actions going on at the time, along with the typical advertisements of the period. There are several ads for units looking for volunteers and being paid a bounty for enlisting. The newspaper is complete and in nice condition for being 150 years old.
