This is a rare original copy of The New York Times, dated Tuesday, August 11, 1863. It appears to be complete having 8 pages. It covers just about everything that is currently going on during the war, such as General Meade arresting suspected guerillas, fighting of the 9th New York Cavalry along with a list of their casualties and the type of wounds, General Jeb Stuart, General Buford, Mosby’s Raiders, etc. It also has articles regarding the Draft in New York and the governor’s letter to Lincoln complaining of unfairness in the selections. It also writes about Joe Johnston’s army in the Mississippi Valley, as well as Admiral Farragut.
There are some great advertisements of cures for just about any disease known to man, including deafness and blindness. A rare advertisement is also in the paper on the Remington revolver, along with a picture of such. This paper has the desirable “1863” date and is in pretty good condition for its age. (SOLD)
