Iron Roller Buckles from Gettysburg Battlefield. Click photo and "Detailed Description".
These are three iron roller buckles, with the largest measuring approximately 1 1/4" x 1 3/4". All three are complete and have a slight varnish coating for preservation. They were recovered at Gettysburg along the Emmitsburg Road, just south of town. The Emmitsburg Road runs through the area of Pickett's Charge.
These buckles are typical of the soldiers accroutrements, both North and South. I have similar examples of these buckles in my book Battle of Gettysburg - The Relics, Artifacts & Souvenirs (see pictures). The book is also available on the website. This is a great opportunity to own a few inexpensive "true" Gettysburg relics.
