Civil War Tin Dipper. Click photo and "Detailed Description". (SOLD)
The cup section of this dipper measures 4" high with a diameter of 5 1/4" on top and 4" on the bottom. The handle extends approximately 7". It has soldered seams, flat bottom, and rolled lip which is correct for the period. It is in very nice condition with an aged patina to the tin.
I have a similar example of this dipper in my book "The Civil War Canteen" (see pictures). That one is an excavated example which was recovered at the large Union camp at City Point, Virginia. This piece would make a nice addition to a camp display. (SOLD)
