Original Photograph Grouping of Confederate Generals. Click photograph and "Detailed Description".
This is a beautiful, professionally done grouping of three period images of Civil War Confederate Generals. The overall dimension is 17 ½” x 13”. The first CDV image is of General A.P. Hill. It is a bust view of him wearing overcoat with general stars on the collar. He led the III Corps at Gettysburg and would be killed on April 2, 1865 during the Petersburg Campaign….just seven days prior to the end of the war. It has the E. & H. T. Anthony backmark. The second image is of General Stephen Dill Lee. He was the youngest Confederate Lieutenant General. It is a waist up view with him wearing a double breasted jacket with general stars on the collar. Lee brought the letter from General Beauregard to Union Major Anderson on April 12, 1861, to demand the surrender of Fort Sumter. The third is of General Fitzhugh Lee. He is wearing a double-breasted jacket with the stars on the collar. This nephew of Robert E. Lee was considered one of the most popular Cavalry commanders for the Confederacy. A local artist did the painting of the Confederate flags and the appropriate calligraphy to the matting. It was then sent to a framer where it was completed with museum quality framing with ultraviolet glass and acid-free matting. This beautiful piece is all original and has been in my private collection for over 20 years. It is in very nice condition and would make a great addition to any Civil War grouping.
