Confederate North Carolina coat-size button. It is excavated and would be considered an NC8 in the button books. It is a very solid button for being dug, there are no pushes and it has a beautiful chocolate patina. There is a back-mark, but I am unable to make it out....even the non-dug examples are difficult to figure out. There is no shank on the back. The history that I have is that it was from the Atlanta Campaign. These North Carolina buttons have been very difficult to find lately. (SOLD)
