Civil War era dice. They measure only 1/4”, which is the most common size that was used by Civil War soldiers. Next to cards, dice was the most played game by soldiers, excavated examples from campsites and battlefields attest to this fact. They are made out of either bone or ivory, having several crude characteristics along with the offset dots. There are examples of these dice in The Civil War Collectors Encyclopedia, by Francis Lord. This pair is in very nice condition and has a beautiful aged patina.
