Original New York Times newspaper, March 1865 (SOLD)

This is another nice item being offered, it is an original Civil War newspaper. It is a complete issue of the New York Times, dated March 26, 1865. This was only weeks before the end of the Civil War. It covers the actions going on around the country, including the heavy fighting of Union troops under General Grant at Petersburg, Virginia and what was going on with The Army of the Potomac.

The newspaper remains in nice condition for its age and is very readable. It also covers other news going on around the world as well as advertising. Within a month after this newspaper was published, the war would be over and President Lincoln assassinated.
