Product Description

This is another nice item being offered, it is an excavated Civil War New York button. It has the eagle on a globe and shield device. There are 13 stars around the top and on the bottom is “EXCELSIOR”. This is a coat-size New York Militia staff button. It has the complete shank on the back but it is bent over and is faintly marked “EXTRA QUALITY”. This button was recovered years ago at Gettysburg.

There is a signed Certificate of Authenticity dated June 9, 2010 (included). It states "This New York coat button with "EXTRA QUALITY" backmark was found by a local relic hunter along the Taneytown Road, behind the Round Tops, in Gettysburg (on private property with permission)". A very nice button and even has some of the original gilt remaining.
