Product Description

Recently I was able to acquire some very unique Gettysburg items from old collections. Being a Gettysburg collector myself, I am holding on to a couple of the pieces but will be listing the others. The one offered here is the top section of what appears to be a Dyer shell. What is truly amazing is that the original fuse is still attached. This is not the case where one was glued in for display, but actually still embedded into the shell when found.

This unusual exploded Artillery shell fragment was purchased at the Redding Auction Services of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The auction consisted of items being de-accessed from the descendants of the estate of Raymond Day.

Mr. Day passed away at the age of 94 and had been a lifelong resident of Gettysburg. He recovered relics and acquired Gettysburg items from local residents whose families resided in town since the battle, as his father did before him for many decades.

Well documented Gettysburg pieces are hard to come by, and I feel lucky I was able to get these artifacts. Included will be a Certificate of Authenticity.
